Import/Export Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and detail-oriented Import/Export Coordinator.
You would be joining an established team and managing the day-to-day international logistics and trade compliance activities across Europe.

The role will be offered on a hybrid working pattern with 2 days from home and 3 days in the office based in St Neots.

The successful candidate will have experience of controlling the movement of goods across international borders while adhering to UK and international trade laws and regulations. Proven experience in an import/export, logistics, or supply chain coordination role would be essential along with experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers and local Chambers of Commerce.

If you have excellent communication and negotiation skills, pay high attention to detail and have the ability to work under pressure, this could be an amazing opportunity for you.

Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment with knowledge of international logistics best practices would be very desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review freight quotations and shipping documents such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers to schedule shipments and resolve logistical issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all import/export activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external audits.
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively address delays or discrepancies.
  • Track and report on import/export costs and suggest process improvements to reduce delays or expenses.
  • Ensure the correct use of commodity codes, custom procedure codes and country-of-origin documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as procurement, sales, and finance to coordinate logistics operations.
  • Stay current on changes to import/export legislation and provide guidance to the wider team.
  • Assist with the application and management of any licences, permits, or export controls where applicable.
  • Support audits, reporting, and KPI tracking related to trade compliance and logistics performance.
