About the Role
The Accountancy & Finance Division have the pleasure to be working exclusively with a reputable and established professional services business in seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to join my clients' senior leadership team. This is your chance to step into a high-visibility, high-impact role where your strategic input will help shape the direction of the business. You'll bring more than just technical expertise - you'll be a true business partner, confident in delivering insightful financial analysis, leading innovation in processes, and steering the company towards continued growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Lead the preparation and approval of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee core accounting functions including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, credit control, and general ledger management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant financial regulations, including the Solicitors' Accounts Rules. Act as the main liaison with auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Strategic Finance: Deliver financial insight and recommendations to support business decisions. Develop and manage long-term financial plans and models.
- Cash Flow Management: Maintain healthy cash flow through accurate forecasting and effective liquidity management.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team. Promote a high-performance culture of continuous improvement.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect the firm's assets and financial health.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Assess and enhance financial systems and workflows to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Qualifications: Fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in progressive financial management roles, including experience in a senior leadership position. Experience within legal or professional services sectors is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial software systems.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, forecasting, and risk management.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage teams. Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills are essential.
