I am delighted to be working with one of Cambridge's Colleges in their search for a Conference and Events Sale Manager. Initially to cover a period of maternity leave, but could be extended to longer term opportunities. Cambridge based, parking available. 37.5 hours a week, some unsociable hours may be required during peak season.
The Conference and Events Manager is responsible for managing the catering and events team and for the planning, coordination, and execution of all internal and external events hosted by the college. You will bring practical knowledge, responding professionally to enquiries and take carriage of events. You lead by example, apply initiative, take instructions, and give direction, where required. Ideally you will have worked in a conferencing or similar sector before, be able to develop your market and promote the College as a host for events and functions.
In Particular:
- Lead the planning and logistics for college / external events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external organisations hosting events.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure successful execution of all events.
- Develop and manage detailed event timelines, floor plans, and production schedules.
- Ensure compliance with college policies, insurance requirements, and safety regulations.
- Prepare event budgets and manage expenditures within approved limits.
- Ensure a high standard of presentation and delivery across all conferences, meetings, and other events.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and best practice relevant to the role as defined including food hygiene, alcohol licensing, health & safety, and fire regulations.
- Track event revenue and expenses; provide post-event financial summaries and assessments.
- Recommend cost-saving strategies and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Oversee the team to promote events through email, web, social media, and print.
- Build and maintain relationships with the Senior team, staff, students, clients and external partners.
- Experience of Kinnex software would also be an advantage.
