Lead the future of a respected precision gear manufacturer. I am pleased to be working on a retained basis with a highly respected precision engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-precision gears, gear systems and specialist gearboxes. With a full order book, a respected name within the precision engineering industry and the backing of a successful international manufacturing group, the business supplies complex power transmission solutions into aerospace, defence and other demanding sectors.

They're now looking for an operationally driven, commercially minded Managing Director to lead the next stage of the business. The company is already in a strong position, with loyal customers, an experienced leadership team and an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineered solutions. At the same time, there's a real opportunity for the right leader to improve operational performance, embed lean manufacturing principles, strengthen the commercial strategy and continue building on the success that's already been achieved.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being visible within the business, leading from the front and making decisions that make a real difference. You'll be as comfortable walking the shop floor as you are meeting customers, developing your leadership team or shaping the long-term direction of the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking full ownership of the business, with responsibility for operational, commercial and financial performance.
  • Driving operational excellence through lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and process optimisation to improve quality, delivery, productivity and profitability.
  • Developing and delivering the long-term business strategy, identifying new opportunities for growth while strengthening existing customer relationships.
  • Leading and developing an experienced senior leadership team, creating a culture built around accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Working closely with the parent group to deliver sustainable growth while maintaining the identity and agility of the UK business.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience operating at Executive level with full P&L responsibility.
  • A proven track record of improving operational performance within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commercial leadership with experience developing business strategy and delivering sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing, driving continuous improvement and leading organisational change.
  • A background within precision engineering, aerospace, defence, power transmission, gear manufacturing or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

This is an opportunity to lead a well-established engineering business with a secure order book, an excellent reputation and ambitious plans for the future. The business has strong foundations, but there's still plenty of opportunity to improve processes, develop people and build on what's already been achieved. You'll have the autonomy to make those decisions, backed by the support of an international manufacturing group that's committed to investing in the continued success of the business.

If you're looking for an opportunity where operational excellence, commercial growth and strong leadership go hand in hand, we'd love to hear from you. If the role sounds of interest click to apply and Kieran Evans will be in contact to discuss the finer details.
