An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tool Stores Technician to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the machine shop runs smoothly, keeping tooling organised, stocked, and optimised to support high-performance production.
This position is central to the smooth running of the shop floor, overseeing the tool stores and supporting engineers and machinists by maintaining stock levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring the right tools are ready for production. You’ll work closely with purchasing and engineering teams to help improve tooling performance, manage costs, and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage tool stores for the machine shop
- Monitor tool and consumable usage to maintain optimum stock levels using the tool management system
- Liaise with purchasing and tooling suppliers to reduce costs and source alternatives
- Organise replacements and regrinds of tooling, tracking associated cost savings
- Assemble tools for shop floor machine tools as per job packs
- Accurately measure tool assemblies and update records
- Strong knowledge of machine tooling, backends, and cutting technology
- Experience with tool assembly and measuring equipment (e.g., Zoller)
- Ability to carry out tool geometry inspections
- Competent in basic numerical and computer skills, including SAP usage
- Manual milling and turning experience
