Role: Interim Senior Accountant (Inventory & Costing)

Location: Northamptonshire - Hybrid working, 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

The Accountancy & Finance Division at The ONE Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Senior Accountant to join a busy finance team on a 6 to 9 month temporary basis to cover a leave of absence. This is a hands-on role within a logistics and operations environment, suited to someone confident in inventory and costing accounting who enjoys working with detailed financial data and improving processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse, record and report accounting transactions accurately and on time
  • Prepare general ledger entries and complete account reconciliations
  • Produce balance sheet, profit and loss and consolidated financial statements
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and investigate unusual movements
  • Lead month end close activities and support reporting deadlines
  • Respond to queries from management, auditors and internal stakeholders
  • Review and strengthen internal controls in line with financial regulations
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practice accounting procedures
  • Ensure financial data is handled with confidentiality and integrity

Skills & Experience Required

  • Qualified or part qualified accountant
  • Strong grounding in accounting fundamentals
  • Proven experience supporting or leading month end close
  • Solid experience in inventory accounting and costing
  • Experience completing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to investigate variances
  • Working knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Ability to interpret financial regulations and ensure compliance
  • Experience working within a logistics, manufacturing or operational environment
