If you’ve delivered new products into manufacture and know your way around both a production line and a project plan – this could be a great next step. I’m working with an established but growing technology business just outside Cambridge who are looking for an experienced NPI Engineer to join their team. It’s a varied, hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of the full NPI process – from early concept through to volume manufacture. You’ll work across projects for electro-mechanical products, managing prototype builds, refining production processes, and ensuring new products are introduced smoothly with contract manufacturers and internal teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading NPI activities across mechanical, electronic and assembly processes
  • Supporting design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) from the start
  • Managing builds, troubleshooting issues, and working with contract manufacturers to scale up
  • Driving improvements in yield, quality, and cost
  • Making sure the wider business (including service, customisation, stores) is ready for launch

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in NPI / manufacturing / process engineering across electro-mechanical product manufacturing
  • Practiced in working on projects with specific timeframes
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical assembly (inc. SMT) and working with electronics factories
  • Comfortable working closely with contract manufacturers
  • Hands-on, structured, and commercially aware
  • Familiar with PLM systems (Agile ideally), DFM, and data analysis

There is some UK and overseas travel involved (expenses covered), so a full UK driving licence is needed. When not travelling, this is a fully on-site based role.
