This position sits at the heart of financial decision-making, providing robust analysis, insight and challenge to budget holders and senior stakeholders across both revenue and capital activity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation, review and quality assurance of financial forecasts and future budget plans across the full financial cycle
- Detailed financial analysis, trend reporting and identification of risks and opportunities
- Leading, managing and motivating a finance team to deliver high-quality financial information and insight
- Acting as the finance lead for forecasting, modelling and budget planning within allocated service areas
- Advising on cost drivers and developing financial models to support strategic and operational decisions
- Supporting the development of robust business cases, including quantifying costs, benefits and risks
- Coordinating annual accounts closure for functional areas, working closely with budget holders
- Ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations and accounting standards
- Supporting completion of financial returns, questionnaires and information requests
About You
Youβll be a confident, experienced finance professional with:
- Full CCAB qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA)
- Strong understanding of financial management frameworks in large, complex organisations
- Public sector experience (highly desirable)
- Proven experience delivering improvements within a finance function
- Ability to provide clear, credible financial advice to senior management teams
- Experience supporting large-scale services and capital programmes
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
