Well established business on the Hertfordshire/Essex border is looking for a Qualified Financial Accountant to join a growing, well-structured finance team. This role would suit someone who trained in practice, has already made their first move into industry, and is now looking to deepen their technical accounting experience in a broader, more hands-on commercial environment. The role has a strong focus on financial accounting, controls and statutory reporting, with exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of monthly financial statements
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and robust supporting documentation
- Review and posting of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, group policies and internal controls
- Maintain and improve financial controls and reconciliation processes
- Support audit queries and ensure timely resolution of issues
- Assist with VAT returns and VAT reconciliations
- Support treasury and cashflow reporting where required
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures
About You
- ACA or ACCA Qualified
- Practice-trained background, with experience in industry
- Strong technical accounting and balance sheet control experience
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven month-end environment
- Detail-oriented, structured and proactive in approach
- Clear communicator with a professional, collaborative working style
