We're looking for an experienced Microsoft Entra ID Engineer to play a key role in an identity and authentication programme. You'll be responsible for ensuring business-critical applications continue to operate seamlessly through a major transformation, working closely with internal technical teams, application owners, and third-party software providers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys complex identity challenges, working across a broad application estate, and taking ownership of authentication technologies in a large enterprise environment. This is not just a BAU role and therefore we’re looking for someone with significant experience with Entra, rather than just a user of it.
Role Style & Setup:
You'll be working across a varied portfolio of enterprise applications, reviewing existing authentication methods, implementing modern identity solutions, and ensuring each application is successfully transitioned with minimal impact to end users. You'll collaborate with infrastructure teams, software vendors, and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from technical discovery through to implementation and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing authentication and identity configurations across enterprise applications
- Design, configure, and implement secure Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to deliver authentication changes
- Validate, test, and support application migrations through to production
- Produce clear technical documentation and operational handover material
- Ensure solutions are delivered in line with agreed project milestones
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong administration experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Experience managing Enterprise Applications within Entra ID
- Hands-on knowledge of modern authentication protocols including SAML, OAuth and OpenID Connect
- Experience implementing or supporting SCIM provisioning
- Understanding of identity federation and enterprise authentication
- Experience working with third-party software providers and SaaS applications
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
It’s expected the contract will run through until the end of January 2027, although there is scope for extension beyond that.
