Cambridge (2-3 days onsite) £40k-£45k
After making a number of placements with this organisation, I’m delighted to be working with them again on an exclusive basis, to support them in their search for a Cyber Security Specialist. Cyber security is more than just reacting to alerts. It’s about staying ahead of threats, strengthening defences, and helping a business operate with confidence. If you’re someone who enjoys investigating incidents, improving security controls, and influencing how an organisation approaches cyber risk, this could be the role for you.
We’re looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to play a key role in protecting critical IT infrastructure, services, and data. You’ll work across incident response, monitoring, auditing, awareness training, supplier security assessments, vulnerability management and continuous improvement projects, giving you genuine variety and visibility across the business.
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitoring and analysing outputs from security tools to identify potential threats and indicators of compromise
- Investigating cyber events and recommending or taking action to minimise risk and protect services
- Fine-tuning existing security controls to maximise the value of current technologies and investments
- Supporting regular audits, security testing, and remediation activities to ensure risks remain within appetite
- Assessing the security posture of suppliers and third-party services
- Contributing to cyber incident response planning and playbook testing/development
- Producing security reports for stakeholders and supporting relevant governance forums
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a cyber security-focused role
- Experience responding to cyber events and incidents
- A solid understanding of cyber risk management principles
- Strong technical understanding across infrastructure, operating systems, networking, and security (on-prem)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- To be within 45 minute commute of Cambridge and happy to work in the office a minimum of 2 days per week
- Full right to work in the UK without any restrictions
Why this role stands out:
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply monitor dashboards and escalate tickets and therefore we are looking for someone who has been more involved than just responding to incidents. You’ll be encouraged to challenge existing processes, influence security strategy, and contribute to long-term improvements across the organisation’s cyber maturity. Your work will directly support the organisation’s ability to identify, protect, detect, respond to, and recover from cyber threats.
