£60,000 joint salary + private two-bedroom accommodation + all household bills included
We are recruiting for an experienced couple to join a prestigious private household in Essex in a permanent, live-in position.
This is a lovely opportunity for a couple who have previously worked together within a private household, estate, hospitality or similar environment and are looking for a long-term role.
The principals spend limited periods of the year in residence, so the workload will naturally vary. During occupied periods the household will be busier and greater flexibility will be required, while at other times the focus will be on maintaining the property, ensuring everything is secure and keeping the household ready for the principals' return.
Private two-bedroom accommodation is provided onsite, with rent and household utility bills fully covered in addition to the salary.
As a couple, one person will primarily focus on housekeeping duties and the other on property caretaking and maintenance.
Housekeeper
Duties will include:
- General cleaning and daily housekeeping
- Making and changing beds
- Changing towels and replenishing household items
- Laundry, ironing and linen management
- Preparing the property ahead of the principals' arrival
- Table setting
- Preparing for guests
- Supporting the smooth running of the household when occupied
- Providing a warm, discreet and professional service
Property Caretaker
Duties will include:
- General property maintenance
- Coordinating and liaising with contractors and specialist trades
- Daily CCTV checks
- Acting as a first point of contact for property, security or maintenance issues
- Pool and hot tub maintenance
- External window cleaning
- Vehicle checks, cleaning and general care
- Occasional driving duties
- Ensuring the property remains secure, well maintained and ready for occupation
About you
We are looking for a couple who:
- Have previous experience within a private household, estate or similar environment
- Are happy to live onsite permanently
- Are discreet, professional and trustworthy
- Are comfortable with working hours varying depending on when the principals are in residence
- Both hold a full driving licence
- Have excellent communication skills
- Are proactive and able to work independently
- Ideally include one person with a maintenance, engineering, property or trade background
You will work alongside an established team, including other members of staff who live onsite.
Due to the nature and size of the accommodation provided, this role is suitable for a couple living without accompanying dependants or pets.
