Wait Staff (Front of House) – Bar & Bistro team at The Olympic, Barnes. This is a zero-hour contract; your General Manager will discuss hours and days you’d be available to work during recruitment. Hourly rate: £14.75 (£12.71 + £2.04 tronc guaranteed). Hours per week: varies according to business requirements and your availability. Location: The Olympic, Barnes.

The Role
We are looking for dedicated and personable floor staff to serve our customers to the highest standard and provide a personal and memorable experience to our guests.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Following our 10 Steps of Service to ensure a consistently memorable experience
- Dealing directly with our guests—presenting menus, taking orders and serving food and drinks
- Taking accountability for each dish you serve, ensuring quality and maintaining standards
- Preparing tables for meals, including the complete setup of linens, silverware and glassware
- Greeting guests in a professional manner and providing education about the food and beverage menus, how menu items are prepared, the ingredients used and the different cooking methods
- Informing customers of daily specials
- Serving food and beverages to guests
- Receiving guest payments and processing transactions
- Clearing and cleaning tables promptly according to proper sanitation standards
- Completing side duties as required including polishing silverware, restaurant setup and filling condiments
- Educating customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions
- You must consistently be able to assess, anticipate and meet guests’ needs and respond quickly without losing focus or projecting a mood that detracts from guests’ dining experience
- Demonstrating a good knowledge and understanding of the full menu, ready to answer any queries or make suggestions to our guests
- Working as a team player — team players are the stars of our show
What We Are Looking For

Our preferences for this role (when reviewing candidates) are that you have some experience in or exposure to, or an interest in providing a show-stopping level of guest service in a high-end hospitality or cinema environment. This will include being open to training, feedback, guidance and doing your best.
- Experience in a similar front of house role or willingness to learn, alongside an approachable, can-do attitude
- Good clear communication skills, particularly your email and phone etiquette
- Excellent people skills and a strong team spirit
- The ability to jump in and get it done as part of a professional supportive team
- A true passion and enthusiasm for people and film
