Job Description

Oldham College is looking to appoint a Manager for our Additional Learning Support Department

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Oldham College is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead and manage our Additional Learning Support (ALS) provision.

In this pivotal role, you will ensure high-quality support and effective teaching, fostering the inclusion of SEND students in all aspects of college life.

As the ALS Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to providing personalised support for SEND students, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management of support staff.

You will collaborate with academic staff and other departments to promote inclusive teaching practices and ensure the seamless integration of SEND students into mainstream classes.

Your role will involve liaising with external professionals, agencies, and families to provide holistic support, while also monitoring and evaluating student progress to ensure effective interventions.

You will supervise and provide professional development opportunities for the ALS Team Leaders and the Dyslexia Tutor, ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and college policies.

Your strategic input will contribute to the development of SEND provision, aligning it with college priorities and the needs of our student population.

Staying informed about national and local initiatives, you will manage the professional development of Support Officers and evaluate the impact of inclusive teaching practices.

You will coordinate exam support for learners with access arrangements and manage daily timetables for support staff. Your leadership will extend to our sensory specialist support, ensuring an inclusive and ambitious experience for HI/VI students.
