A Production Technician Engineer to serve the packhouse and processing unit with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff and associated processes.
The position:
- Carry out and document start up checks, changeovers (including organic transitions), and cleaning to prevent cross-contamination.
- Calibrate and maintain NIR graders, cameras (including Q-EYE), weigh cells, and related equipment.
- Act as first point of contact for grader breakdowns and coordinate repairs with Engineering.
- Monitor grading line productivity and product quality, escalating issues where targets are not met.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and support root cause analysis of breakdowns.
- Perform quality control inspections and ensure compliance with internal and customer standards.
- Clean, inspect, and replace grader components (beds, blades, NIR cups, screens), maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure correct use of grading screens and organise repairs when required.
- Maintain high housekeeping, labelling, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Support staff performance, identify training needs, and ensure correct use of the internal system.
- Assist with post-grading processes such as foaming and venting in coordination with the Stock Controller.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in grading operations.
Person specification:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment of frequent change is beneficial.
- Previous experience of supervising a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload as the working situation develops.
- Proactive approach to work as they will need to meet targets to ensure minimum downtime.
