At Fen Drayton, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Nursery Room Leader to guide and support our team in providing outstanding care and education. In this rewarding leadership role, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor, nurture, and create a positive impact for children, families, and your colleagues.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Please note: we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

Pay: £29,016 per annum (40 hours per week).
Working Hours: 40 hours over 4 or 5 days, Monday to Friday. Shift times change slightly each week.

About our Nursery
At Fen Drayton, we take pride in offering a blended EYFS and Montessori approach to learning, which creates ample opportunities for children to develop into curious and confident learners. We ensure our nursery rooms are warm and welcoming for the children, complete with carefully selected natural resources that tie into our unique curriculum and enhance the children’s learning and development.
Own transport is required due to the Nursery village location - Lots of free and easy parking but if you don’t drive, the local bus route that runs through the village is 5A bus which runs every hour and a half through the village from St. Ives to Barhill. We are located in Fen Drayton on the high street, offering easy access to the A14, A1307 and M11 in both directions. We are set back slightly from the main road and we are right next to the The Three Tuns pub.
What being a Nursery Room Leader involves
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will work alongside the Nursery Manager to lead and inspire your team while delivering exceptional care and education. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring the team to provide high-quality early years education with passion and energy.
- Supporting the Nursery Manager to ensure smooth nursery operations and consistent quality.
- Acting as a role model by promoting initiative, creativity, and high standards of care.
- Building strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external agencies to support the best outcomes for children.
- Overseeing the team’s implementation of the EYFS framework, ensuring engaging learning opportunities.
- Taking charge of nursery operations in the Nursery Manager’s absence.
- Encouraging continuous improvement through feedback and supporting professional development.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that meets each child’s needs.
