At Flaxton, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Nursery Room Leader to guide and support our team in providing outstanding care and education. In this rewarding leadership role, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor, nurture, and create a positive impact for children, families, and your colleagues.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Please note: we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

About our Nursery
Based in a charming farmhouse, our nursery is the perfect setting for our outdoor-focused learning environment centred around the importance of playing in nature, and we make full use of that each day. At Little Green Rascals Flaxton we provide care for up to 60 children, each one benefiting from our unique approach that encourages exploration, curiosity, and a love for the great outdoors. We have 3 rooms, Wiggly Worms (babies), Cheeky Hens (toddlers), and Little Green Rascals (preschool). We are also incredibly lucky at Flaxton to have access to an amazing Forest School, run by our Forest School Lead. Although we’re tucked away in Flaxton, finding us is easy, as we’re close to the A64 between York and Malton with onsite parking for staff.
What being a Nursery Room Leader involves
- Leading and mentoring the team to provide high-quality early years education with passion and energy.
- Supporting the Nursery Manager to ensure smooth nursery operations and consistent quality.
- Acting as a role model by promoting initiative, creativity, and high standards of care.
- Building strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external agencies to support the best outcomes for children.
- Overseeing the team’s implementation of the EYFS framework, ensuring engaging learning opportunities.
- Taking charge of nursery operations in the Nursery Manager’s absence.
- Encouraging continuous improvement through feedback and supporting professional development.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that meets each child’s needs.
