At Newton Abbot, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Nursery Room Leader to guide and support our team in providing outstanding care and education. Pay: £29,016 per Annum, based on experience (40 hours per week).
Working Hours: 40 hours over 4 days a week from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm.

Located in the historic market town, hdc Newton Abbot Nursery provides a nurturing and stimulating environment that offers the perfect start for your child’s learning journey. We offer a hygge‑inspired environment to enable children to grow and be comfortable in homely surroundings. At our Ofsted‑rated ‘Good’ nursery, the décor and room layouts are set to encourage togetherness and familiarity. The focus is on children’s interests; an adult helping hand is provided to promote extended learning and support development. The nursery is located on Devon Square in the centre of Newton Abbot, making it wonderfully central and only a short walk from the train station.
What being a Nursery Room Leader involves
- Leading and mentoring the team to provide high‑quality early years education with passion and energy.
- Supporting the Nursery Manager to ensure smooth nursery operations and consistent quality.
- Acting as a role model by promoting initiative, creativity, and high standards of care.
- Building strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external agencies to support the best outcomes for children.
- Overseeing the team’s implementation of the EYFS framework, ensuring engaging learning opportunities.
- Taking charge of nursery operations in the Nursery Manager’s absence.
- Encouraging continuous improvement through feedback and supporting professional development.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that meets each child’s needs.
