We are currently recruiting a Salaried GP for 5-7 sessions per week to join our friendly, dynamic and proactive team. As a Salaried GP you will manage your own list proportionate to sessions worked and manage a caseload dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Main duties of the job
- Work autonomously with guidance and support from the Partnership where required.
- Work in a newly refurbished, expanded, ultra-modern premises with onsite car parking in a central Sutton location.
- Low home visit rates and support from locality funded home visiting team.
- Meet informally daily for coffee and participate in regular practice meetings.
- Personal interests and specialties are welcomed and encouraged.
About us
The Old Court House Surgery is a well-established high performing practice with around 13,500 registered patients located in the heart of Sutton and is a proactive member of the Central Sutton Primary Care Network. Our site is a large, modern working environment and is home to a workforce of 40+, including PCN/ARRS roles. We are a 5 partner PMS and training practice using the EMIS web clinical system with a strong team of highly skilled and experienced healthcare professionals including salaried GPs, ANPs, Nurses, HCAs and Phlebotomists working alongside our excellent team of admin and reception staff.
The successful candidate will be entitled to 6 weeks paid annual leave, 1 week's paid study leave, relevant BHs (all pro rata) and be auto enrolled into the NHS pension scheme.
Job responsibilities
- Make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Contribute to Practice QOF requirements and record data appropriately.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- Aware of and comply with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- Commit to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Contribute to the development of computer-based patient records.
- Contribute to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
- Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Person Specification
- MRCGP or equivalent.
- Current GMC Registration and licence to practice in the UK.
- Representation by a recognised medical defence organisation.
- Registered on the medical performers list.
- Evidence of CPD and suitable qualifications.
- Postgrad training and relevant experience in a clinical specialty.
- GP trainer.

- Acting as a patient advocate and able to assist patients in addressing health inequalities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across networks providing the best localised care for patients and ensuring suitable use of all available resources.
- A good knowledge of other primary care roles and how these can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- A valid UK driving licence and own car or alternative suitable method to get to patients as required.
- A good understanding of PMS contracting requirements and additional services.
- A good knowledge of primary care networks including ARRS.
