Are you passionate about great food, fresh seasonal ingredients and being part of a kitchen team that takes real pride in what it does? If you're looking for a role where you can sharpen your skills, work with fantastic produce and build a career in hospitality, we'd love to hear from you.

Welcome to Old Bicycle Shop in Cambridge — once the UK's first bicycle shop, now one of the city's most vibrant and distinctive restaurants. We serve fresh, locally sourced food throughout the day, from brunch and lunch through to dinner, alongside an exciting cocktail and drinks menu. We're proud of our warm, friendly approach, our high standards and our commitment to creating memorable experiences for every guest.

Your role as Chef de Partie: As a Chef de Partie, you'll be an important part of our kitchen team, working with fresh, seasonal ingredients to deliver consistently excellent dishes to our guests. You'll work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team, learning, developing and taking pride in every plate that leaves the pass. We want our chefs to be curious, creative and hungry to improve — whether you're already an experienced CDP or you're a talented Commis Chef ready to take your next step. You'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas for menus and daily specials, develop your technical skills and gain experience across different areas of the kitchen. Most importantly, you'll be joining a business that believes in developing its own talent. Many of our Head Chefs have progressed through the business, so if you're ambitious and willing to put in the work, there is a genuine career path ahead of you.

What we offer:

  • Access to our CDP to Sous Chef Development Programme and beyond — with the majority of our Head Chef appointments made internally
  • Access to our Apprenticeship Scheme, giving you the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification while you work
  • Access to Culinary Masterclasses to develop and sharpen your skills
  • 20% discount in all Young's Pubs
  • 30% discount on overnight stays in our Pubs with Rooms
  • Free meals while working
  • Weekly pay
  • Sharesave Scheme
  • Company Pension Scheme
  • 28 days' holiday per year

What we're looking for: We're looking for a passionate chef who cares about quality, enjoys working as part of a team and wants to keep developing their skills. You might already be an experienced Chef de Partie, or you could be an excellent Commis Chef ready for your next challenge. You'll ideally:

  • Have experience delivering excellent food and service in a busy kitchen
  • Have a genuine passion for fresh, seasonal produce and quality cooking
  • Be a hands-on chef who takes pride in maintaining high standards
  • Be enthusiastic about learning new skills and developing your career
  • Be a positive, supportive team player with excellent communication skills
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and wider team to deliver consistent, high-quality dishes
  • Bring creativity and ideas to our menus and daily specials
  • Have good planning and organisational skills and an understanding of kitchen controls
  • Take pride in maintaining excellent food hygiene, health & safety and kitchen standards
  • Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver a great experience for every guest

Ready for your next step? If you're passionate about food, keen to learn and want to build a long-term career in hospitality, Old Bicycle Shop could be the perfect place to grow.
