We are looking for an Operations and Facilities Manager to play a vital role in the Octagon’s smooth, safe and successful running. You will understand how to make a busy venue work every day: planning events and schedules, ensuring the building is welcoming and safe, and organising maintenance and repairs. You will be committed to giving every user of our buildings – from customers to artists – a brilliant Octagon experience. This role would suit someone with a solid understanding of how a theatre or similar public venue operates every day. You’ll have a proactive, problem‑solving approach and be able to juggle multiple priorities. You’ll be confident in managing timetables, contracts and budgets, and at the same time, great with people and at communicating in a range of situations. You will understand safety, hazards and risks in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate building operations, ensuring activities are properly scheduled, staffed and delivered to the highest standards of customer experience.
  • Provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all building users.
  • Ensure the Octagon’s buildings are accessible, compliant and well‑maintained, including managing premises, plant and utilities.
  • Manage and embed environmental sustainability throughout operations and facilities.

Staff Managing

  • Directly responsible for cleaners.
  • Sometimes responsible for event leaders and other duty staff.
