We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef who is able to deliver excellent café food. We offer light brunch and lunch dishes, all freshly prepared in our kitchen as well as homemade scones baked every day.
This role is full time and includes weekends. Typical hours of work are approximately 8am until 4.30pm.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of food preparation and production within a restaurant or cafe environment. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere among the team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance.
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring that dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Develop quarterly menus and create weekly specials.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, including understanding and maintaining up to date allergen documents.
- Manage food production schedules to optimise efficiency during peak service times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role within a restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen management practices.
- Exceptional supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail in food presentation and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
