Overview
We are seeking to appoint a talented, innovative and ambitious teacher of Maths. This is an exciting time to join the school as we are increasing our numbers on role significantly and recruiting several new staff to meet this need. If you provide high-quality teaching and have a natural passion for improving the life chances of our children, then this could be the role for you.
At The Oaks Academy pupils follow the White Rose Maths curriculum. We believe that students deserve a creative and ambitious mathematics curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which ignites curiosity and prepares them well for everyday life and future employment.
Curriculum and approach
Our mathematics curriculum will give students the opportunity to:
- become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, through varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.
- reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using the correct mathematical vocabulary.
- solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions.
What we offer
- The DfE have recently announced that Maths teachers who finished their ITT course between 2021 and 2025 could be entitled to an additional £4000 on top of their salary if successfully appointed to a school with a high percentage of pupil premium pupils. The Oaks Academy qualifies for this; further information will be provided to successful candidates.
- The Learning Partnership has a comprehensive and supportive performance management process, to motivate, inspire, and develop colleagues to ensure that both teachers and pupils can realise their potential. There is a wealth of continuous professional development and networking opportunities across the Trust through The Learning Institute, our teacher training and learning and development faculty.
- Collaborative working across trust schools and sharing best practice are highly encouraged, and we have opportunities for more formal training and qualifications through apprenticeships and the NPQ programmes. We are passionate about developing and retaining our staff; we offer teaching and learning responsibility and retention allowances to ensure we remain an employer of choice in the locality.
- The trust promotes and prioritises staff wellbeing through its commitment to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter. A new staff benefits programme has launched this academic year, providing staff discounts in response to the rising cost of living, and offers a confidential employee assistance programme to support staff mental health and wellbeing both personally and professionally.
- Supportive and inspiring teaching and learning community with regular coaching and mentoring opportunities.
- Coherent and well-planned continual professional development with the opportunity to achieve the TEEP (Teacher Effective Enhancement Programme) internationally recognised qualification. This complements your individual subject pedagogy and supports our whole school approach to teaching and learning.
- Enrolment on the national Effective Formative Assessment Dylan Wiliam project as a whole school initiative.
- Individual subscription to a range of research-based teaching and learning platforms, including: The National College, TES Develop, Bluesky Learning Modules, TLP Perks, and access to a wide range of discounts and benefits for employees of The Learning Partnership Trust.
