We are a friendly and supportive training practice with 7,500 patients situated in the sub‑urban area of Luton. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our practice team for up to a total of 3 sessions. We are offering a competitive salary with indemnity cover, NHS Pensions, with additional CPD study leave pro‑rata.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provision of GP services within the organisation, inclusive of appointment‑based sessions, face‑to‑face, telephone, video and home visits.
  • Additional GP administration including review of pathology/radiology results, review of GP actions on incoming correspondence, collaborative MDT working.

  • Part of an established training practice and training PCN, with robust training programmes for GP trainees and clinical pharmacists
  • Regular clinical meetings for additional learning and continued professional development (both internal and external)
  • Additional clinical support includes GP trainees, medical students, clinical pharmacists, physician associates and social prescribers.
  • Other third‑party support includes mental health link workers and CAMHS practitioners.
  • High‑achieving practice with a Good CQC rating
  • Large car park and local access to public transport.

Job responsibilities:

A salaried GP works as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the contract. Furthermore, the post‑holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team. The role is to support, mentor, and supervise other healthcare professionals within the organisation and be an integral part of the general practice team.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
  • JCPTGP Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)

Experience:

Essential:

  • Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of providing home visits
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • General understanding of the primary care contract
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice

Desirable:

  • An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners
