We are now looking for an entrepreneurial General Manager to take the reins of this freshly transformed local favorite and drive it into its next successful chapter.
Role Overview
This role includes a live-in opportunity, offering convenient on-site accommodation that allows you to bypass the London commute and truly become the face of the local community.
As the General Manager, you will blend exceptional hospitality with sharp commercial acumen.
You won't just manage the day-to-day operations; you will treat this newly refurbished business as your own—maximizing the potential of the new space, driving sales, mentoring a passionate team, and ensuring our pub remains the premier social hub in Bromley.
Key Responsibilities
- Business & Financial Management
- Capitalize on the Refurbishment: Leverage the fresh look and upgraded facilities to drive new footfall, boost sales, and maximize the venue's renewed potential.
- Drive Profitability: Take full P&L accountability, managing labor costs, wet/dry GPs, and operational overheads to ensure a healthy bottom line.
- Events & Marketing: Develop and execute local marketing strategies, premium weekly events, and seasonal campaigns that align with our refreshed brand.
- Standards & Site Management
- Asset Protection: Maintain the newly refurbished asset to an impeccable standard, ensuring the front-of-house and back-of-house areas look pristine at all times.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure 100% compliance with health and safety, food hygiene (HACCP), fire regulations, and licensing laws.
- Property Care: As a resident manager, act as a key custodian of this historic building, ensuring security, safety, and routine maintenance issues are handled promptly.
- Leadership & Culture Team Development: Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing team, fostering a culture of exceptional service and positive morale.
- Community Engagement: Champion our historic roots while welcoming new guests, building strong relationships with regulars and the wider Bromley community.
- Candidate Profile & Core Competencies
- Proven
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years as a General Manager in a high-volume, fast-paced pub or hospitality venue.
Experience managing a post-refurbishment relaunch is a major plus.
- Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of P&L accounts, labor modeling, and gross profit margins.
- Standards Fanatic: A sharp eye for detail. You take pride in maintaining a premium, newly renovated environment.
- Live-In Suitability: Comfortable with the unique lifestyle of living on-site, maintaining a healthy work-life boundary while being a key presence on the property.
