About the Team

The Major Investigations Team advises on and progresses some of the NMC\’s most high-profile and complex fitness to practice cases. The team comprises legal and non-legal colleagues.

You will ensure high-quality service delivery to meet statutory objectives of protecting the public and upholding confidence in nursing and midwifery professions. Your primary responsibility will be progressing cases through the screening stage of the Fitness to Practice process. You will draft advice for lawyers on complex cases and collaborate with various colleagues across the organization.

About You

You are a confident, knowledgeable individual with significant casework experience, preferably in professional regulation. Experience in stakeholder engagement and managing a complex caseload is essential. You should be an effective communicator.

Additional Information

This role is flexible; initial posting will be to a team, with possible movement between teams based on workload. This flexibility aims to provide the best service and timely case outcomes. Terms and conditions remain unchanged and will be discussed beforehand.

Up to Band 5 roles may require assisting in litigation or inquests, involving collating information, providing witness statements, or giving oral evidence.

Due to the nature of the role, you may be required to assist in litigation, inquests, or inquiries, which may involve providing evidence related to specific cases, policies, or operational issues.

Our Hybrid Working Policy involves office attendance twice a week, with remote work the rest of the time. Applicants must be able to commit to this arrangement.

Regarding pay, new staff are usually appointed at the bottom of the pay band, but exceptions may be made. Salaries are reviewed annually, with a progressive pay approach. Internal colleagues are paid according to internal policies.
