About The Role

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours

Location: Head Office, Nottingham (Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week)

Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience.

We are looking for a proactive and collaborative Data Governance Manager to lead the development and delivery of our data governance framework. In this role, you will ensure our data is accurate, reliable and compliant, enabling us to unlock its full value across the organisation.

You will champion the management of data through data quality, ownership and governance processes, while maintaining metadata and supporting regulatory compliance. As a subject matter expert, you will guide best practices and play a key role in mentoring colleagues. You will also manage and support a junior data quality analyst, helping them grow and thrive in their role.

Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as a Data Governance Manager:

  • Shape and evolve data governance: Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of data governance policies, standards and procedures across the organisation.
  • Champion data quality and accuracy: Define and run regular data quality checks across key domains, investigate issues, and collaborate with teams to resolve root causes and enhance data reliability.
  • Promote data ownership and stewardship: Work closely with business users to embed data ownership practices and support a culture of shared responsibility for data.
  • Drive adoption of tools and best practice: Lead the rollout of governance tools and provide hands-on guidance to teams on data standards, helping to build a collaborative and informed data community.
  • Deliver insightful reporting: Produce and present dashboards and reports on data quality KPIs, and maintain the data issues log with regular updates and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support regulatory and operational compliance: Monitor data against business rules, standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance is embedded in day-to-day processes.
  • Enhance data literacy across the organisation: Deliver training and support to improve understanding of data governance, helping colleagues confidently apply best practices in their roles.
  • Collaborate across functions: Partner with teams including IT, security, engineering and customer-facing areas to embed governance into data pipelines and improve member experiences.

About you - Experience and expertise:

As Data Governance Manager, you will bring hands-on experience in developing and embedding data governance frameworks that ensure data is accurate, trusted and compliant. You will have a strong grasp of data quality, metadata management and regulatory standards, ideally gained within financial services or another regulated sector.

Leadership and collaboration:

You will have experience managing or mentoring others, with a supportive and inclusive leadership style. You will be confident working across teams, influencing stakeholders and promoting a culture of data ownership and continuous improvement.

Technical knowledge:

A solid background in data governance, data management or data quality is essential. You will ideally hold relevant qualifications or certifications, and be familiar with recognised frameworks such as DAMA or DCAM, as well as data governance tools and technologies.

Behaviours and mindset:

You will be proactive, solutions-focused and collaborative, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high standards. You will be comfortable acting as a subject matter expert and enjoy sharing knowledge to support the development of others.
