We’re looking for a Test Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain high-quality automated testing solutions that ensure reliable software delivery across the Society. In this role, you’ll enhance test efficiency through robust automation practices, collaborate closely with delivery teams, and work in line with Testing Centre of Excellence standards. You’ll help shape and evolve our automation frameworks, support AI-driven and low-code automation initiatives, and play a key part in enabling CI/CD integration and shift-left quality practices.
Responsibilities
- Test Automation Design & Development: Create, maintain, and enhance high-quality automated test solutions aligned to delivery needs.
- Framework Ownership: Shape, evolve, and continuously improve automation frameworks and tools.
- Quality Engineering Practices: Drive shift-left testing by embedding quality early in the software development lifecycle.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with delivery teams to embed automation best practice and improve overall test efficiency.
- Standards & Governance: Ensure all automation work adheres to Testing Centre of Excellence guidelines and quality standards.
- AI & Low-Code Automation: Support and adopt AI-driven and low-code test automation capabilities.
- CI/CD Integration: Enable and optimise automated testing within continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Defect Prevention & Reporting: Improve product reliability by identifying issues early, supporting root-cause analysis, and enhancing test coverage.
Qualifications
- Strong Automation Foundations: Solid understanding of test automation principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Hands-On Tooling Skills: Proficient with modern automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) plus experience in API testing and Git.
- AI & Low-Code Awareness: Familiar with low-code or AI-driven automation platforms such as Leapwork, Tosca, or ACCELQ.
- CI/CD & DevOps Mindset: Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and how automated tests integrate into pipelines.
- Agile Delivery Experience: Proven background designing and implementing automated test suites and frameworks in Agile, iterative environments.
- Collaborative Working Style: Works effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to shared quality outcomes.
- Quality-Focused Behaviours: Proactive, detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and committed to continuous improvement and simplifying complexity.
- Relevant Certifications: ISTQB Foundation (required) with bonus points for automation tool, CI/CD, DevOps, or cloud-related certifications.
