The Norton Knatchbull School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Senior Science Technician to lead the technical support provision across our Science Department.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician, or a science professional looking to move into education, to play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Science Technical Team.
  • Prepare, organise and maintain equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons.
  • Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
  • Support the delivery of practical work across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Monitor stock levels and manage ordering within departmental budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe working practices are consistently followed.
  • Support teachers in developing engaging practical activities and demonstrations.
  • Contribute to the future development of practical science provision within the department.
  • Profile and Requirements

We are looking for an adaptable candidate with experience in science laboratories and a willingness to support high-quality teaching across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The role may suit an experienced technician or a science professional seeking a transition into education.

The working hours are usually 8am-4pm with potential for flexibility.

The role is term time only plus 2 INSET days and is paid on KSE £29,167 per annum / £25,144.87 pro-rata.
