The Firestopping Contracts Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of firestopping projects from contract award through completion. This role ensures works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with FIRAS certification, fire safety regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple firestopping contracts from pre-start through final handover
- Oversee site teams, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure quality and productivity
- Ensure all works comply with FIRAS requirements, tested systems, and approved details
- Review drawings, specifications, and fire strategies to confirm scope and compliance
- Coordinate with main contractors, consultants, and fire engineers
- Plan labour, materials, and access requirements to meet programme deadlines
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality checks
- Ensure accurate installation records, photographic evidence, and as-built documentation
- Manage variations, valuations, and commercial performance with the commercial team
- Promote and enforce health & safety standards across all sites
- Support project close-out, certification, and handover documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience managing firestopping or passive fire protection contracts
- Strong knowledge of firestopping systems, installation methods, and sequencing
- In-depth understanding of FIRAS certification and compliance requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and relevant standards
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Competent with project reporting and basic commercial controls
Preferred Qualifications
- FIRAS-trained or experience working within a FIRAS-certified contractor
- SMSTS / SSSTS
- First Aid at Work
- Passive Fire Protection qualifications or manufacturer training
