It is not designed for graduates.**Job Description:**3-month positions (May 2026 through August 2026)8-month positions (May 2026 through December 2026)**Duties/Tasks:**Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on needs of the operation. These duties may include all or some of the following:* Perform safety inspections and corrections.* Perform mechanical work on heavy equipment and small diesel engines.* Remove and install engines and components.* Assemble and disassemble engines, brake adjustments, repair clutches and wheel bearings.* Perform general repairs on trucks, tractors and light vehicles.* Perform engine tune ups and field work.* Service, operate and test large equipment. Clean the shop.* Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.* Other duties as assigned.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**The successful applicant will be support as a diesel / auto mechanic on scrapers, blades, dozers, haul trucks, miscellaneous small equipment and light vehicles.
