THE ROLE - PAINTER & DECORATOR
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake general painting and decorating maintenance and refurbishment in all areas of the hotel.
- Assist with French polishing repairs where required; training will be provided if needed.
- General maintenance and refurbishment work using trade skills including plastering repair work.
- Undertake a range of internal/external painting and redecoration tasks.
- Undertake preparation work using hand-held power tools including scraping, sanding and filling.
- Undertake silicone replacement or new silicone application jobs.
- Prepare surfaces in readiness for application of decorative products; mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture as necessary.
- Apply paint or other materials such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, wood, metal coatings or fire retardants using brushes, rollers or spray equipment, following manufacturers’ recommendations.
- Comply with all company and health & safety requirements at all times.
- Stock management of all painting and decorating tools and materials (this may include going to the paint shop to purchase items).
Requirements
- Must have at least two years of previous experience in a similar role, ideally from a hotel environment.
- A qualified trade licence.
- Previous hotel or complex building engineering background.
- Willing to work as part of a diverse team.
- Ability to handle more than one job at a time.
- Flexible with working weekends when rostered on.
- Great customer service skills.
- Good all-round knowledge of building services.
- Excellent teamwork, customer care and problem-solving capabilities.
