Salaried GP in Walsall

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate salaried GP to join our team for 4-5 sessions per week. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to support your personal and professional commitments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality clinical care to patients in accordance with the latest guidance and best practice standards.
• Undertake a range of consultations including face‑to‑face, telephone and online appointments.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
• Contribute to clinical meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in management of patients with chronic disease and complex needs.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records using our clinical system.
• Support the practice in achieving QOF, enhanced services, and other performance targets.

About us

The Nile Practice is a friendly, well‑established practice providing high‑quality care to our local community. We have a list size of around 10,000 patients across three sites – Cheslyn Hay, Cannock and Hednesford. Our current team includes 2 Partners, 4 ANPs, a multidisciplinary team including Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Mental Health Counsellor, a Physiotherapist and a Social Prescriber.

Key responsibilities

• Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitlement population.
• Provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
• Generic prescribing in line with local and national guidance.
• Effective management of long‑term conditions.
• Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, lab reports, workflow documents, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
• Optional private work (e.g., PMAs, medical reports) performed during the working day, with all fees retained by the Practice.
• Availability for surgery consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, covering urgent care duties and home visits as required by the practice timetable.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with good practice, policy, and guidance.
• Work collaboratively, sharing an equal portion of the practice workload.
• Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and audit processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
• Take delegated responsibility for specific areas of the QOF.
• Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
• Support the development and maintenance of practice operations, including clinical governance, training, financial management, and HR.
• Ensure compliance with the appraisal process and complete the revalidation cycle.
• Commit to self‑learning and promote a culture of continuing professional development across the team.
• Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
• Assist partners in achieving strategic aims, recommending ways to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
• Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times.
• Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Secondary responsibilities

• Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead.
• Engage in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
• Participate in the review of significant and near‑miss events, applying a structured approach (e.g., root cause analysis).

Person specification

• Qualifications: Qualified GP, MRCGP, Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent, JCPT-GP, General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training – CCT), Full GMC Registration, Eligibility to practice in the UK independently, National Performers List registration, Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU).
• Experience: Experience of working in a primary care environment, Experience of continued professional development, Experience of QOF and clinical audit, Experience of medicines management, Experience of CCG initiatives, General understanding of the GMS contract.
