The Role
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join the Engineering team at THE NICI Bournemouth.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the hotel, ensuring our facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
You will play an important role in creating a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for our guests and colleagues while supporting the day-to-day operation of the hotel's engineering function.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from all departments.
- Complete general repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating, and painting tasks.
- Assist in maintaining guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and external grounds to the highest standards.
- Support the Maintenance Manager with ongoing projects and routine inspections.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
- Work alongside external contractors when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and hotel policies.
- Identify potential maintenance issues and proactively recommend solutions.
About You
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or engineering role, ideally within hospitality or a customer-focused environment.
- Good all-round practical skills across a variety of maintenance disciplines.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays when required.
