Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering accurate and timely payrolls for a portfolio of clients to agreed deadlines
- Inputting payroll data, running audit and validation checks, and interfacing with General Ledger and pension systems
- Monitoring and processing statutory payments such as SSP and SMP
- Managing year‑end payroll reporting and changes to time and attendance systems
- Administering the end‑to‑end payroll process, including auto enrolment compliance
- Acting as first line support for pay queries and providing trusted advice to clients
- Peer checking payrolls and collaborating with the wider payroll hub
- Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and industry changes through independent research
What you will need:
- At least one year’s experience in Payroll Administration, Payroll Clerk, Payroll Officer, ideally within a busy, service‑driven or bureau environment
- End‑to‑end payroll processing experience, including pensions, benefits, and statutory payments
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, both manually and using systems
- Ability to coordinate, prioritise, and multitask with minimal supervision
- Strong customer focus and confidence handling queries by phone and email
- Ability to adapt to change and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll legislation, processing, and auto enrolment regulations
- Ability to manually calculate payroll
