Job Description
Looking for a part-time, 6-9 month contact where you can genuinely make your mark? This is your chance to take ownership, clean up the accounts, and help modernise the finance function within a Manufacturing Business renowned for its heritage and global reputation. As Management Accountant, you’ll be hands-on, working across five companies, improving reconciliations and month-end, and helping drive a major systems improvement project. No overtime, flexible hours, and a family-friendly team mean you’ll enjoy excellent work-life balance while having a real impact. If you thrive on getting into the detail and want to help shape a modern, digital finance setup, this is the role for you.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Producing management accounts across five companies, including intercompany reconciliations
- Weekly and daily ledger cleansing, plus balance sheet reconciliations
- Managing accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets across the group
- Supporting cash-flow reporting and providing sales ledger analysis
- Investigating variances and unusual transactions, digging into large volumes of data
- Reviewing work in progress/project accounting and improving related processes
- Helping bring month-end closer to a day-5 close
- Supporting ongoing finance and system modernisation
- Working closely with the team to improve processes and day-to-day accounts
- Potentially supporting wider project work as required
What you will need:
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Management Accountant, Finance Analyst, or Financial Accountant
- Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and handling large datasets
- Solid understanding of debits and credits
- Logical, analytical, and comfortable investigating discrepancies
- System/process orientated, able to help with modernisation
- Trustworthy, handling large amounts of financial data and confidential information
- QBE is ideal; qualification is less important than hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting areas
- Calm, level-headed, outgoing, and able to fit into the team
- Confident enough to challenge and investigate issues, resilient, and able to take feedback
- Comfortable with variety and consistent weekly responsibilities
What you will get:
- Excellent work-life balance, with no overtime expected
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Family-friendly and understanding management
- Strong team dynamic
- Opportunity to have a genuine impact on the finance function
- Chance to help modernise systems and processes
- Interesting, specialist manufacturing business with a strong heritage and global reputation
