Job Description
Step into a Financial Controller role where you’ll be trusted, supported and encouraged to grow. You’ll join a design-led, professional services business in Winchester that’s expanding steadily – both in the UK and internationally – and has just promoted its current FC internally. Now, they’re looking for someone who’s ready to take the reins and make the role their own. This is a true 50/50 hybrid setup with flexible hours and a 3pm Friday finish. The office is just a 5-minute walk from the train station, and the team works closely together across finance and projects, with lots of collaboration and freedom to bring new ideas to the table. You’ll be working with a Head of Finance who’s keen to support growth, but also happy for you to challenge the status quo.Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and mentoring a team of 4, reviewing work and supporting development
- Reviewing monthly management accounts for presentation to the Group Head of Finance
- Getting stuck into project accounting – working with project managers to track profitability and performance
- Reviewing internal policies, procedures and controls and driving new initiatives and improvements
- Preparing and submitting multinational VAT returns
- Acting as the main contact for the UK audit process
What you will need:
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Financial Controller / Finance Director / Finance Manager / Head of Finance / Senior Management Accountant
- A background in small to medium businesses
You don’t need to be the finished article – this is ideal for someone who’s been steadily progressing and is now ready to take on their first FC role (or already operating at that level and looking for a more hands-on, progressive environment). Whether you’re fully qualified, still studying, or qualified by experience, if you’ve got a strong track record and can adapt as the role evolves, you’ll be a great fit here. What you will get:
- Hybrid working – 50/50 split
- Flexible hours with a core hours arrangement (10-3)
- Salary sacrifice pension with enhanced contribution
- Study support and study leave
- Annual bonus based on company performance
- Friday early finish
- Summer social events and Christmas parties
- 5-minute walk from the train station
