40 hours a week spread across 7 days, weekends included.

Our Shopkeeper

You will be the warm welcome and the savvy guide in our beautifully curated shops—sharing tastings, telling product stories, and keeping service swift and seamless. From artful displays to spot-on stock rotation, you will make every guest visit memorable while helping our retail spaces look (and sell) their very best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, knowledgeable customer service, including tastings and tailored recommendations.
  • Operate tills accurately and efficiently, keeping queues moving with a smile.
  • Replenish and rotate stock to First-In-First-Out standards; minimise wastage and complete paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, impeccably presented shop at all times.
  • Create and maintain eye-catching, commercially effective merchandise displays.

What we’re looking for

  • Clear, confident communicator with a professional, well-presented approach.
  • Friendly team player who’s equally confident working independently.
  • Highly reliable and results-driven with a passion for food & drink.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role (retail experience desirable).
  • Comfortable working to sales targets; basic Excel knowledge a plus.

Our Retail Team works closely with our Product Team, Events, and Hospitality departments to ensure a seamless guest experience across the estate. We operate three beautifully curated food and lifestyle outlets:

  • The Farm Shop – At the heart of our estate, offering home-grown and handmade produce, from cheese and butchery to cyder and seasonal veg.
  • House & Garden Shop – A celebration of Somerset living, with scents, tableware, and crafted home goods.
  • The Creamery at Castle Cary Station – Our newest location bringing The Newt to guests on the move.
