Are you caring, conscientious, and motivated with a passion to work as a Maternity Support Worker at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals? You will work as an effective member of the team to provide quality, compassionate care for women, babies, and their families under the supervision of multi-disciplinary colleagues.

We are looking for individuals who are motivated, enthusiastic, and have a distinct passion for caring for women, babies, and their families; supporting compassionate holistic care across the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. You will be able to provide public health information to parents and families about immunisations, screening, healthy pregnancy advice, and safe sleeping. As a Maternity Support Worker, you will support women in their chosen method of infant feeding in line with UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiatives and the practical skills required to care for a baby, including skin-to-skin contact, positioning and attachment, hand expression, the use of a breast pump, and preparing artificial feeds and equipment.

This role offers the privilege to support family bonding during a special time. We are a flexible, working-friendly organization and will consider flexible working arrangements to accommodate your needs, where possible.

Our organization oversees over 6,500 patient contacts daily across various sites, including Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary, and others, delivering high standards of healthcare with cutting-edge services and innovation.

Requirements include assisting, supporting, and working collaboratively with the midwife and multidisciplinary team to provide safe, holistic, birth person-centered care. The employee will receive appropriate training for the clinical settings, which may include antenatal inpatient/outpatient care, intrapartum inpatient care, and postnatal inpatient and community care.
