Overview
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team. Candidates would be joining a well-integrated team with ties to the wider oral and maxillofacial surgery department and academic oral surgery, with the aim of providing specialist oral surgery management within our busy department. We offer excellent clinical facilities, with appropriate laboratory, nursing and multi-disciplinary team support on-site.
The primary aim of this full-time, substantive appointment as Consultant in Oral Surgery (10 programmed activities) is to join the existing team to provide consultant specialist services in Oral Surgery. The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and advisory service based at the Dental Hospital. Outpatient local anaesthesia and sedation services are available. General anaesthetic facilities are sited within the Dental Hospital day case unit. The successful applicant will contribute to the oral surgery and dental emergency clinic (DEC) consultant tier on-call rota within office hours.

Responsibilities
- Clinical: Provide clinical service for patients attending oral surgery services within the Trust; deliver service in accordance with the Job Purpose; undertake clinical teaching and supervision of junior dental staff including undergraduate students; provide Consultant Cover for Junior Dental Staff at the Dental Hospital as necessary.
- Managerial: Play an active role in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of clinical services as part of the consultant team; participate in clinical audit, governance activities and continuous development of the oral and maxillofacial surgery department, Dental Hospital and Trust.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be registered dental practitioners.
- You will be on the General Dental Council’s (GDC) specialist list in Oral Surgery.
- Evidence of management/leadership, teaching and research experience would be desirable.
- In addition to the challenges of the role, there is a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.
