Do you have a commitment to making a difference to womenβs lives? Are you passionate about supporting women in a holistic, gender responsive, trauma-informed way to achieve long-term lasting change? We are looking for a passionate and empathetic person to join our team at The Nelson Trust Womenβs Centre in Gloucester in a voluntary capacity. The purpose of this role is to engage and support who are affected by exploitation and sex working, in order to break the cycle of offending, addiction, sex working and trauma. As a Volunteer you will provide essential support to women in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner. Your role will involve offering resources, assistance, and emotional support to help improve their overall well-being and safety.
What will I be doing?
In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:
- Outreach and Engagement: Establish connections with women, build rapport, and provide a safe space for them to share their needs and concerns.
- Resource Distribution: Offer information about health services, legal rights, and other relevant resources that can assist women in improving their quality of life.
- Emotional Support: Be a compassionate and understanding listener, offering emotional support to women who may face stigma, discrimination, or isolation.
- Harm Reduction: Inform women about harm reduction practices, including safe sex practices, substance use safety, and self-care techniques.
- Non-Judgmental Attitude: Approach the role without judgment, maintaining respect for the choices and autonomy of women.
- Data Privacy: Handle all information with strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines regarding privacy and consent.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of interactions, services provided, and resources distributed for reporting and improvement purposes.
