Our Community Recovery Café in Gloucester is a vibrant, inclusive space where connection, recovery, and community truly come together. We’re looking for an organised, proactive Shift Lead to help bring the café to life during each shift, ensuring excellent service, smooth operations, and a supportive atmosphere for staff, volunteers, and the people we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Take responsibility for the smooth running of the cafĂ© during allocated shifts, ensuring a positive, safe and supportive environment.
  • Lead on Front of House activity, providing high‑quality customer care and modelling The Nelson Trust’s values.
  • Oversee food preparation and service where needed, maintaining hygiene, safety, and food standards.
  • Complete hygiene checks, cleaning tasks, and close‑down procedures to keep the space safe and compliant.
  • Manage cash handling and complete accurate cash‑up and banking processes.
  • Lead weekly stock ordering and maintain stock levels to minimise waste.
  • Support volunteers and act as the main point of contact during shifts.
  • Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional boundaries at all times.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in a cafĂ©, hospitality, or food service environment.
  • Ability to lead a shift and take responsibility for operational decisions.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to work within, a recovery‑focused environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work every Saturday and one weekday.
