At The Nelson Trust, we believe in empowering women to overcome significant challenges and build positive, independent futures. Through our Women’s Community Services, we support women with complex needs linked to offending behaviour, helping them achieve lasting change. This is a rewarding opportunity to join our Bristol Women’s Centre team, providing tailored, trauma-informed support to women involved in the Criminal Justice System. You will play a key role in helping women rebuild their lives, working across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and BaNES in both centre-based and outreach settings.

Salary: Starting at £27,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week (flexibility required)

Pension: Auto enrolment pension (6% employer contribution)

Location: Bristol Women’s Centre (covering Bristol, South Glos and BaNES)

What will you do:

  • Provide 1:1 practical and emotional support to women involved in the Criminal Justice System
  • Assess client needs (including risk, health, psychological and social factors) and develop tailored support plans
  • Manage a caseload, review progress and adapt interventions to support positive change
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners including probation, police, housing and health services
  • Advocate for clients and attend multi-agency meetings, family court and criminal court where required
  • Support women to access appropriate external services and community resources
  • Deliver outreach support across the region and from satellite locations
  • Maintain accurate case records, monitor outcomes and contribute to reporting and service development

What we are looking for:

  • At least 2 years’ experience supporting women with multiple complex needs
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to different locations
  • Strong experience in assessment, risk management and tailored support planning
  • Knowledge of issues affecting vulnerable women, including domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse
  • Experience working collaboratively with partner agencies and building effective relationships
  • Ability to engage and motivate individuals who may struggle to access services
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a diverse caseload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT and administrative skills, with experience of data recording and monitoring systems

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced Children & Adults DBS check. Applications will be considered as they are received and the advert may close early if suitable candidates are identified. Due to the nature of the work carried out in our Women’s Centres this role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).
