The pastry kitchen at The Ned produces delicious desserts and pastries to be served anywhere in our hotel, members spaces, or any of our 10 restaurants. Whether that’s a cake for a wedding on our events floor, croissants and pain au chocolat for a breakfast meeting, afternoon tea to be served in Millie’s, or a whole host of desserts for our famous Sunday Feast, the pastry kitchen does it all.

The Ned boasts 10 restaurants each serving a unique style of cuisine from around the world. As a junior member of the kitchen leadership team, reporting into the kitchen managers you will:

  • Work alongside the sous and head chef to lead the daily operation, overseeing the production of our food, compiling the daily mise-en-place, and ensuring that all food is cooked and presented to our exceptional Ned standards.
  • Support some people leadership tasks - including team recruitment, development and performance chats, onboarding new starters.
  • Be a guardian of food quality and presentation, monitoring all food leaving your kitchen and providing coaching and feedback to the team where needed.
  • Create and monitor a safe and clean kitchen environment, protecting our guests and team from any possible harm.
  • Protect our excellent food safety ratings and audit standards by always keeping a close eye on procedures and practices, keeping impeccable records, and implementing action plans where necessary.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Previous kitchen experience with a proven track record of delivering outstanding food is essential.
  • Previous experience of supervising or managing a team is beneficial, but experienced chefs looking to take their next step may be considered.

  • An organised and detailed manner is necessary, as impeccable record keeping is needed to maintain records for our safety and audit standards.
