Engineering is the department that keeps everything working perfectly at The Ned. This isn’t always easy. Our building was originally designed as a bank, not a hotel, which makes the role both complex and endlessly interesting. The Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring The Ned delivers a seamless experience for members, guests and team members, every day.
About The Ned: The Ned and Ned's Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned's Club, a private members' space, gym and rooftop, alongside a public spa, ten restaurants and bars, and 250 hotel bedrooms.
Reporting into the Engineering and Facilities Director, you will:
- Take full ownership of hotel engineering operations, leading a multi-skilled team to maintain the building, plant and systems to the highest possible standard.
- Balance operational excellence with guest experience, ensuring maintenance issues are resolved quickly, professionally and with minimal disruption.
- Plan, prioritise and oversee preventative, reactive and emergency maintenance across the hotel, ensuring assets are maintained efficiently and cost-effectively and documented and records maintained.
- Maintain the physical appearance and operational performance of all mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, water treatment, fire safety and life safety systems.
- Ensure all statutory testing, compliance and safety requirements are met, documented and maintained accurately.
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness, safety and organisation of all plant rooms and engineering spaces.
- Lead and develop the engineering team through coaching, training and clear performance expectations, building capability and succession within the department.
- Work closely with hotel leadership, front of house and housekeeping teams to ensure engineering support aligns seamlessly with operational needs.
