Commercial Catering Engineer
About The Ned
The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club — a private members’ space, gym and rooftop — alongside a public spa, a whole floor of event spaces, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair and maintain all our commercial catering equipment
- Be responsible for fault finding and troubleshooting of electric and gas commercial catering equipment
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
- Provide general engineering support to the whole operation – including basic plumbing, electrical repair, and gas equipment
- Help the business to achieve sales targets by regularly carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns, and disruptions, keeping The Ned running smoothly and looking in top shape
- There are 750+ team members; the engineering department supports and works alongside all of them, so a can-do attitude and great people skills are important
- The engineering team provide coverage across the whole operation, so flexible working patterns are required
- Ideally you will have background knowledge with a similar environment from your previous roles
Shift patterns
You will work on a basis of 4-on, 3-off and 3-on, 4-off, each shift being 12 hours.

What you can bring to the role
- Ideally, you are a holder of City and Guilds Level 3 2365, ideally 18th edition (or equivalent)
- You will have background knowledge with similar equipment from your previous roles
- You will have basic plumbing and carpentry skills and knowledge
- This is a high-pressure role, so an ability to stay calm and inspire confidence in others is needed, paired with the ability to pivot, problem solve, and re-plan when things change
