Health & Safety Coordinator

We have a fantastic opening for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Backstage support team in Health & Safety.

Our Backstage support teams are crucial to the delivery across all five of our venues - The NEC, bp pulse LIVE, Utilita Arena Birmingham, the ICC, and Vox - and include IT, Finance, Marketing, People, Legal, Safety and Procurement. Collaborating seamlessly with our frontline operational teams to create unforgettable moments for the millions of people that visit us each year.

About The Role

This role will provide essential administrative, operational and compliance support to the Health & Safety team across NEC Group venues. Your role will play a key part in supporting the operational delivery of health and safety systems, inspections, incident reporting, contractor management and compliance monitoring.

No previous health and safety background or experience is needed for this role. We need someone who wants to learn and develop their skills and support creating safe spaces for colleagues to work and for our millions of customers and fans to enjoy. A structured training and development plan will be provided in this role, including formal qualifications, and mentoring from our experienced health and safety practitioners.

Day to day you will:

  • Assist the Health & Safety Advisors and Director with day-to-day administrative tasks, maintain accurate records and databases (including incidents, inspections, training, and audits), and manage version control within the Health & Safety Management System.
  • Support routine venue safety inspections across all sites, update safety noticeboards and compliance trackers, and promptly escalate safety concerns to senior team.
  • Help organise internal training sessions, maintain training records and matrices, and assist with basic fact-finding, including gathering witness statements, photographs, and initial documentation.
