About The Role

We are a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP), offering high-performance network solutions across colocation, cloud, Ethernet aggregation, and SD‑WAN. Our infrastructure spans multiple UK data centres and includes a national MPLS core, built for resilience, scalability, and enterprise‑grade availability. As a Network Platform Engineer, you will play a hands‑on role in the delivery, maintenance, and support of our service provider platform, including MPLS core, data centre networking, and secure multi‑tenant services. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and architects to deliver projects, troubleshoot incidents, and implement changes across our core and edge environments. This is a technical role designed for a skilled and motivated network engineer ready to take ownership of key tasks and grow into greater responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform & Infrastructure Support: Assist in maintaining and improving our MPLS/EVPN-based core and data centre network infrastructure. Support Cisco ACI fabrics and Nexus Dashboard environments. Support upgrades, migrations, and service deployments across core, distribution, and access layers. Collaborate on the implementation of technical plans and infrastructure designs. Contribute to accurate configuration and platform documentation.
  • Operational Support: Respond to incidents, service requests, and BAU changes across the network platform. Participate in an on‑call rota and assist during major incidents under guidance from senior engineers. Support hands‑on work at data centres and PoP sites when required. Help improve monitoring, automation, and general platform reliability.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Engage in peer reviews and team‑based problem solving. Learn from and contribute to knowledge sharing sessions within the Infrastructure team. Support standardisation and documentation efforts.
  • Platform Integration & Development: Contribute to integration with monitoring systems, internal tooling, and automation initiatives. Support the development of repeatable infrastructure delivery through IaC practices. Work with the team to define operational standards and documentation.

Technical Skills

Key Skills & Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a network engineering role within a service provider or enterprise environment. Familiarity with MPLS, BGP, OSPF, Segment Routing (SR‑MPLS), and EVPN technologies. Experience working with data centre or PoP‑based network infrastructure. Exposure to Cisco ACI and Nexus Dashboard. Exposure to Juniper (MX, EX, SRX), Cisco NX‑OS, or Fortinet platforms. Exposure to scripting or automation (e.g., Ansible, Python) is a plus.

Certifications (Preferred But Not Required): Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE 4 or equivalent experience and demonstrable skills.

Soft Skills & Attributes: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Detail‑oriented with a structured approach to problem solving. Eager to learn and grow within a technical team environment. Comfortable working under change‑controlled processes (ITIL‑aligned). Reliable, motivated, and team‑oriented.
