As a trusted partner, we also support Europe’s outsized contribution to the global nature and climate agenda, through engagement with Europe’s key decision-makers and funders including governments, private and public donors, civil society, corporations and public and private financial institutions. By bringing global scale, scientific and technical expertise and convening power, we create and implement practical solutions, advance ambitious policy and catalyse much needed financial resources to protect the vital nature we have left, restore the nature we’ve lost and address climate change.

Since opening TNC’s first office in Europe in 2009, we’ve grown into a vibrant team of 60 staff representing more than 30 nationalities. Together, we are advancing TNC 2030 Goals from our hubs in Berlin, Brussels, Geneva, London and Zagreb.

Through strong and effective partnerships with public sector institutions, we can jointly advance global policy goals and mobilise public and private financial resources towards meeting the world’s climate, nature, and sustainable development goals. Within a changing development finance landscape, strengthening engagement with public sector institutions in both their headquarters and with embassies and delegations in partner countries is more important than ever.

The Europe Public Funding and Partnerships (PFP) team at TNC plays an instrumental role in developing and managing trusted partnerships with European governments, bilateral and multilateral public funding mechanisms and funds, and development financial institutions. These partnerships are key to mobilise and deliver public funding resources for highly impactful projects and initiatives that help to advance positive outcomes for people, nature, and climate, in line with TNC’s 2030 Goals.

The Europe PFP team has seen great success in growing and managing partnerships with governments to meet shared objectives. We are now looking to strengthen and step up these partnerships to achieve even greater impact in collaboration with governments across Europe.

The Europe Public Funding and Partnerships (PFP) Coordinator will be a core member of our dynamic Europe PFP team (based across the UK, Belgium and Germany) and will work closely with colleagues across The Nature Conservancy globally to enhance TNC’s public partnerships. They will support strategic engagement with TNC’s priority European government partners and their delegations and embassies in countries in which TNC operates, assist teams across TNC to develop strong proposals for new funding opportunities, and contribute to effective business processes to advance the Europe PFP team’s objectives.

We’re Looking for You: In this role, you will support relationship and public funding colleagues across Europe and TNC’s global network, with responsibilities including:

• Support Europe PFP Relationship Managers and Public Funding Managers to plan and deliver engagement approaches that increase TNC’s visibility and access to European embassies, delegations, and public finance actors in priority countries where TNC operates.
• Help align TNC programme priorities with donor strategies and develop effective relationships with donor agencies by supporting stakeholder mapping, preparing briefings, coordinating meetings, and contributing to clear, accurate donor-facing materials.
• Work with Europe PFP Relationship Managers and Public Funding Managers to support country teams across TNC to develop high quality proposals for public funding, providing strategic input on project design, eligibility requirements, budget structure, compliance, and partner arrangements based on strong knowledge of public donors’ funding priorities and cross-cutting requirements.
• Contribute to donor research and analysis, and to internal learning on proposal development—capturing what works, where we can improve, and sharing practical insights with colleagues.
• Support the Europe PFP team’s planning, reporting and systems—helping maintain up-to-date records, improve templates and guidance, and coordinate smoothly with colleagues across TNC’s global network.

We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented and highly organised coordinator who enjoys working across teams and cultures and has experience developing public partnerships and implementing public funding processes. You bring strong writing and analytical skills, can prioritise effectively to keep multiple workstreams moving, and communicate complex information clearly and succinctly. You are comfortable gathering, synthesising and presenting information to support decision-making and donor engagement.

You enjoy building internal networks, coordinating team inputs towards shared goals, and helping teams work efficiently together. You communicate sensitively with a diverse range of colleagues and partners, and you take a practical, solutions-focused approach to delivering through collaboration. You have a good understanding of the policy and funding priorities of public funding agencies relevant to climate, biodiversity and sustainable development, including cross-cutting requirements such as gender equality and social inclusion, safeguarding and Overseas Development Assistance criteria.

What You’ll Bring: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience (e.g., public sector partnerships, public funding, donor engagement, grants, or related coordination work). Knowledge of the public development and/or climate/nature finance landscape, and an understanding of how European governments and institutions (e.g., the UK, Germany, Norway, France and the European Union) engage through embassies, delegations and public funding mechanisms. Experience supporting the development of successful proposals or funding submissions, and comfort navigating donor guidelines, compliance requirements and internal review processes (ideally in environmental and/or climate-related areas). Proven experience coordinating internal and external stakeholders to support strategic partnerships across multiple priorities. Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects on time and to agreed budgets. Experience with client management databases and tracking tools. Fluency in English; additional European languages are an asset.

Desired Qualifications Experience, coursework, or other training in environmental policy, sustainability, or fundraising. Experience coordinating complex projects, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results. Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in public funding. Project management experience and certification.
