We're looking for a Learning Guide who believes curiosity is the key to learning. This is not an ordinary teaching job. The Natural Wonder Project CIC is launching a new kind of online learning community for home-educated children (key stage 2-3) and we're looking for a talented Educator to help shape our provision.
We believe children are instinctively curious and full of wonder. They thrive when given the intellectual respect and freedom to explore their curiosities. We are creating a unique educational journey that:
- Exposes learners to things they didn't know existed and sparks curiosity
- Creates space to deeply explore interests
- Delivers key elements of the National Curriculum in a unique way that blends multiple education philosophies
- Gives learners genuine ownership of a sustained piece of work through which they can explore things that interest them and express their learning in a way they find exciting
THE ROLE
We're hiring our founding Learning Guide — the first Educator to join, at the point where you can help shape the provision. You'll be working with small groups of home-educated children online, four mornings a week. The model is distinctive and carefully thought through. We'll share the full detail at interview. What we can say is that no two sessions look the same, the curriculum is always present but never the point, and the role asks you to be a facilitator, a mentor, and a thinking partner — all in the same morning.
YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR THIS, IF...
- If you've found (or are finding) traditional education frustrating because the system doesn't let you teach the way you want
- Are more interested in asking great questions than delivering polished answers
- Find children's questions genuinely surprising and delightful, even after years of working with them
- Can hold a Socratic discussion with a group of 9-year-olds without it becoming a lecture
- Are as comfortable supporting a parent as you are working with their child
- Know the KS2 curriculum well enough to weave it in without anyone seeing the joins
- Are energised, not intimidated, by the phrase "we're still figuring this out"
- Have a genuine intellectual curiosity of your own
THIS PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU, IF...
- You need a detailed lesson plan to feel secure in a session
- Your instinct is to correct a child's wrong answer rather than explore it
- You measure a good session by how much content was covered
- You'd find it uncomfortable not to be the expert in the room
- You think state education is the pinnacle of learning
WHAT WE'RE OFFERING
This is a founding role at an early-stage education venture, so we want to have an honest conversation about structure, hours, and compensation — whether that's employed, freelance, or something in between. What we can say is that this role is part-time, online, and built around school-age mornings (9–12:30, four days a week). This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new model of education from the ground up — to be part of something that could genuinely change how home-educated children learn.
SOUND LIKE YOU?
We're not asking for a CV (yet). We'd love to hear from you in whatever form feels most natural — a message, a voice note, a short (or long) paragraph, or a video... Tell us what drew you here, and what kind of educator you are and what you'd do with this role.
